TenementsDr Bill Wilson, SNP MSP for the West of Scotland, has expressed his astonishment that a problem with the computer system of the Department of Works and Pensions (DWP) has still to be remedied after the SNP highlighted the glitch in 2001.  The system used to pay pensioners entitled to the Winter Fuel Allowance (WFA) does not recognise individual households within tenements.  This means that some of those entitled to the payment receive half the payment they are due if there are residents in the same set of flats also entitled to the benefit.

200 More Police Officers in the Last 6 Months for Strathclyde

PoliceDr Bill Wilson, SNP MSP for the West of Scotland, has welcomed the announcement by Kenny MacAskill, the Cabinet Secretary for Justice, that police officer numbers in Strathclyde have increased by 205 since the last set of available figures.  This means that numbers have increased in Strathclyde from 7619 to 7824.  The SNP had pledged 1,000 more police on Scotland’s streets. At the moment the Government is on the way to delivering even more.

Wilson Lodges Motion Recognising Council Action on the Credit Crunch

MoneyDr Bill Wilson, SNP MSP for the West of Scotland, yesterday lodged a Parliamentary Motion welcoming Renfrewshire Council’s action on helping those who find themselves facing financial difficulty due to the present tough economic conditions.   The council has announced £214,000 extra spending order to support financial advice centres, which are being deluged with enquires from those facing financial problems.
